ACCESS Testing This Week
Your student will be tested this year to determine progress in learning English. Students will be taking the Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State to State (ACCESS) Test between February 4 – 14, 2013. The testing is mandated by the federal government and includes all students who are identified as English Language Learners (ELLs), whether they are receiving services or not. During this time, all normally scheduled ESOL classes will be canceled.
The ACCESS test is an important test that provides useful information about your child’s progress in learning English. Students will be tested for English language skill with a focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Results from the test will assist us in planning instruction for your child. While we want all students to do their best, please be careful not to create undue anxiety in your child.
Tests will be taken in small groups over four separate testing sessions It is important that your child comes to school each day prepared for testing. Making up a missed test means time out of class and losing important learning time that cannot be made up.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information regarding ACCESS or visit www.wida.us/ACCESS to learn more information about our testing.
