Spring Break is right around the corner. I know everyone is excited for a little time to de-stress!
Don't forget about our SchoolCollabo and Home Access Center Workshop with Mrs. Van der Lende, our Bilingual Community Liaison. It will be Monday, March 31 @ 9am in the computer lab.
This week in ESOL...
4th & 5th graders will be trying out a new Class Constitution. I love that students are excited and can be more outgoing in ESOL, but it's that time of year when our excitement is starting to get in the way of our learning. We worked on things we should and shouldn't do in ESOL and developed some awards and consequences as a class. This is also a great tie in to 4th grades' unit on Our New Nation when America was writing their own Constitution, too! This week we will review nonfiction text features and will read a biography about George Washington.
3rd graders have been busy practicing their interview skills and are getting ready to write a biography about a class buddy. We have been working on using correct sentence structure when asking and answering questions.
2nd graders will be re-visiting nonfiction text features. Text features are what authors include in books to help make it easier for us to understand. Don't you love how authors include photographs and diagrams in books? They make reading so much more interesting!
1st graders will be working on visualizing texts. We will be reading poems with descriptive words and imagery and show what it makes us think of when we listen and read the poems. We will also be working on the difference between adjectives and adverbs when describing.
I'm looking forward to a great week with lots of hard work!
