1st GradeThis week, we will be reading a play called "Honza's Little House" and using puppets to act out the story. We learned about a script, characters, and setting in a play last week so we will act out the scenes with our puppets. Reading a reader's theater script out loud is a great way to practice oral fluency and intonation. Check out these sites for some great reader's theater scripts to use at home: Hedgie's Surprise Green Eggs and Ham If You Take a Mouse to School | 3rd GradeLast week, we identified characteristics of ecosystems. We looked at deserts, tundras, forests, rainforests, grasslands, and coral reefs. To learn more about different ecosystems, you can check out the sites on kidsgeo.com. This week, we will examine a desert ecosystem more closely. You can learn some fun facts about deserts from Science Kids. National Geographic Kids also has some pretty neat pictures of deserts! | 4th & 5th GradeLast week, we learned a lot of new information about coral reefs to build our background knowledge before we read. Did you know coral is an animal even though it looks like a plant or a rock? This week, we will continue to read and write about coral reefs and discuss many of the animals that live there. We will also be reviewing vocabulary and ensuring that we know how to use science specific vocabulary in writing. |
