Student surveys will continue this week. This is an opportunity for your students to give me (and other teachers) feedback on what is working well and areas of improvement.
Please help your children dress appropriately for school each day. Dressing in layers is very helpful for spring since many mornings start out chilly, but warm up. When students move from room to room they often complain they are cold and this takes away their concentration.
Mark your calendars ~ Mrs. Van der Lende will be holding a parent workshop on March 31 @ 9:00 am at the Computer Lab A-145. Andrea Chait will give a presentation on how to use SchoolCollabo and Mrs. Van der Lende will talk about how to use Home Access Center. Each parent will work in one of the computers to follow along the presentations while being explained on how to log in, set alerts, receive and send messages, etc.
This week in ESOL...
1st graders will be discussing point of view and determining facts and opinions in a story. This is a review of past reading topics so students should already be familiar with these.
2nd graders will be presenting fairy tale puppet shows or stories and will be reviewing non-fiction text features to help with animal research.
3rd graders are finishing their opinion letters to Mrs. LaRue and will be starting to ask questions using correct sentence structure to interview a buddy.
4th and 5th graders will be completing main idea and themes from books we have read. We have been working on writing main ideas that DO NOT begin with "The main idea is..." or "The book is about..." We have worked on starting main ideas with our topics and writing one sentence that tells the MOST IMPORTANT thing about we read.
