Please contact me at [email protected] or a 470-254-2800 if you would like to set up a conference time to discuss your child's progress in ESOL.
This week in ESOL...
2nd grade will be visiting the Smoke House from the Alpharetta Fire Department to learn about what to do in case there is a fire in their house so I will not meet with groups on Tuesday, October 6. The rest of this week will be spent on the narrative post-assessment. 2nd graders will be writing a narrative about a time they were sick. Their narrative should include all of the things we have learned so far about writing - complete sentences, using conjunctions (and, but, or), adding details, using past tense verbs, and capitalization.
3rd graders will be completing their narrative post assessment. Their narrative will be a time they spent with a special relative. Their narrative should include all of the things we have learned so far about writing - complete sentences with a subject and predicate, using conjunctions (and, but, or, so), using quotation marks, and including a strong lead. Students are expected to write a minimum of three paragraphs for their narrative.
4th and 5th graders will be completing their narrative post assessment. Their narrative will be about a time they were scared and how they overcame their fear. Their narrative should include all of the things we have learned so far about writing - multiple paragraphs about the same topic, dialogue with correct punctuation, and including better word choice.
