Week of September 1 - 5Happy Labor Day! Labor Day is always celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is a time that we celebrate all the workers in the country. Read more about Labor Day in this Time for Kids article.
Kindergarteners this week are working on adding descriptions to school tools. They are working on adding a label to a school tool like "Ms. Chan's pencil" and are also adding the words "big" and "small" to describe school tools. Practice identifying school tools by listening and reading onLearning Chocolate.
2nd graders are adjusting to their new schedule this week. In ESOL we will be reading the book "The Adventures of Maxi" which is about a dog that rides in a taxi. We will work on describing how Maxi's feelings change in the story and then write a journal entry pretending to be Maxi. Sometimes students are stuck describing their feelings as happy, mad, and sad. Make sure you practice using different feeling words.
3rd & 4th graders are working on a bubble gum narrative. We will be working on determining if a sentence is complete with a subject and predicate. We will also be using our five senses to add descriptions to a story about blowing a bubble.
4th Graders are working on completing narratives about a time when something bad happened to them. This week we will be adding transition words and dialogue to our writing. Make sure to practice using transition words anytime students tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end and also to use correct punctuation when adding quotation marks
