This week, all classes will be wrapping up their writing and be taking their end of unit assessments. Students will not be bringing home their writing because they are required to include original copies of their writing in their ESOL folders. Instead, you may view our published work on the "Our Work" page. My personal belief is that assessments should not just be memorization. Therefore, the assessments for ESOL will require students to apply their thinking and show their understanding by using skills like writing main ideas, finding supporting details, and using text features while reading. These are not necessarily skills that students go home and memorize. They will be showing that they are actively using these skills to improve their ability to work on grade level tasks with language support.
